EarthLink High Speed uses
a Metropolitan Area Network to connect your computer
to the Internet quickly, easily, and with no strings attached.
 |
High-speed wireless
access points have been set up throughout your local area.
You will receive a wireless modem with an integrated antenna
that automatically captures the high speed signal from
the nearest access point and connects you to the Internet
at blazing speeds. |
 |
The Metropolitan
Area Network is the “mesh” grid formed
by the multiple wireless access points set up in your
neighborhood. This network is what brings the power of
fixed wireless technology to the comfort of your home.
All this provides you with a stronger, more reliable signal
than any current “wireless” technology, and
it’s what makes EarthLink High Speed Internet
fast, affordable, and so easy to install. |
|
 |
EarthLink’s two easy installation
methods maximize your coverage and both are FREE when you sign
up for EarthLink High Speed. Based on your neighborhood’s
features and the distance of your home to the nearest access
point, we’ll set you up with the method that’s right
for you.*

Live on the edge of the Metropolitan Area Network or need
to boost your signal? EarthLink has you covered with FREE
professional installation.
Here’s how it works: When you sign up for our lightning
quick service, a representative runs a check of your home’s
distance from the nearest wireless access point. If it
is too far for self-installation, the sales agent will
schedule an appointment for FREE, professional installation.
You will still receive the self-install kit (see above,)
which contains the modem needed to connect you to the
Internet.
The professional installer will use a two-way cable to
connect your indoor antenna modem to an outdoor transceiver
(another type of antenna.) This transceiver, a small,
white plastic box (about 5” x 5” x 1”,)
can pick up signal at farther distances, allowing more
users to enjoy the benefits of fixed wireless high-speed
technology.

Find out which installation method is right for you!
* EarthLink will pre-qualify all customers for either
self-installation or professional installation depending
on the location of your home in the Metropolitan Area Network.
